1.1 Water. Monday, 9 June 2014 leave me ♥?

Structure of Water Molecule.

1. Consists of one oxygen atom and two hydrogen atoms.
2. It links by covalent bond.

3. It forms 'V' shape.
4. Two hydrogen atoms spread apart at an angle 104.5'.
5. Oxygen is more electronegative than hydrogen, thus it attracts        electrons from hydrogen.
6. In water molecule, hydrogen atom is partially positive and oxygen atom is partially negative.
7. It happens because of unequal distribution charge of water molecule, thus causes the water to become polar molecule.
8. Polar water molecule attracts other polar molecule causes the bond formed to call hydrogen bond [polar water molecule repels non-polar molecules; oil].
9. The hydrogen bonds are weaker than covalent bonds but they are strong enough to hold the water molecules.
10. Each water molecule can form 4 hydrogen bonds only and the way to draw the bond is like in the picture.
